Summary:
Sarah, born in 1841, was the youngest of ten children born to William Weston and Kate Stretton. Married to Leicester surgeon John Sloane, they had eight children, of whom the eldest twins died very young. Sarah had a liberal and relatively good education and believed in advancing women’s position in society. Two sons would become doctors and her daughter, Mary Annie Sloane, became a most distinguished artist and friend of William Morris’ daughter, May.
