Family
The third child of William Weston Stretton and Jane (née Harris). Joseph married Whittingtina Annie Moss only a matter of days before he died in 1889. He had five children, the youngest two girls being twins.
His son, Joseph Hope Stretton, has a certain claim to fame for having been the ‘model’ for this Punch cartoon in 1938.

Joseph worked in London as an Attorney & Solicitor. In 1876 he is recorded as working for Chaplin, Hillary, Dale & Stretton at 3 Gray’s Inn Square.
