The second child of William Weston Stretton and Jane (née Harris). William was one of ten children. He first married married Mary then, later, Celia Letitia Cowper, fourteen years his junior, when he was 43.
Celia was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Career:
In the 1871 Census Return William is recorded as being a General Practitioner, living at 14, Walkergate, Beverley, Yorkshire. Also resident were his wife, an Assistant and five servants. Later he moved to London where, in the 1881 Electoral Register, he is living at 8 Suffolk Place, Pall Mall East.
